When our children were home for summer break from elementary school (too many years ago) I needed to come up with a project to keep them occupied. So they started their own little company, "Buster's Bones", and made homemade dog treats to peddle around the neighborhood and to friends with pets.

Buster was the name of our Yellow Labrador who is no longer with us. These Willow Bee Inspired RSVP Collection recipes are from that summer project.

Cheddar Biscuits
from the Buster's Bones Collection

2 c. regular flour
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1 1/4 c. shredded cheddar cheese
4 1/2-5 T. water

Combine flour, cheese and vegetable oil in container of food processor. Cover, whirl until mixture is the consistency of coarse meal. With machine running, slowly add water until mixture forms a ball. Divide dough into 12 equal pieces. Roll out each piece to 1/2 inch thickness and cut out bones. Transfer to ungreased cookie sheet. Do not reroll scraps. Bake in preheated 400 degree oven for 10-15 minutes or until bottom of biscuit are lightly browned. Carefully transfer bones to wire rack to cool completely. Refrigerate in airtight container. Makes 32 biscuits.

Peanut Butter Treats
from the Buster's Bones Collection

3/4 c. regular flour
1 egg
1 T. honey
1 t. peanut butter
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 t. baking soda
1/4 c. rolled oats
1/2 t. vanilla

Heat honey and peanut butter until runny (about 20 sec.). Mix ingredients together and drop  by 1/2 teaspoonful onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. Makes 45-50 treats.
